My new bad-hair day safety net is not a hat (although I’m a sucker for a straw topper and searching for the perfect one for my summer hols…) When I’m feeling slovenly and want the extra twenty minutes in bed instead of the shower, I opt for this season’s side braid. Seen on the catwalks of Alexander Wang, Missoni and practically every hip celeb since (I heart you Diane Kruger!). The triumph of this style is: the scrappier the better. Flyaway strands and a loose plait are all part of the look (and avoids the ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ comparisons), so it gets better as the day goes on. Dishevelled bed-head sexiness, that actually means more time in bed? Yes please.
