AMAZING EDA
The MA Communication Design class at Central Saint Martins are currently exhibiting their final projects in East London. I swung by to support my friend George, whose pieces were gorgeous, but also fell in love with Eda Akaltun's incredible work. She based her project around the 1920s dystopian science fiction novel We by Yevgeny Zamyatin. The books tell of a world in which nothing is private, everything and everyone is unified and people are identified by numbers instead of names. Eda's series of illustrations and prints reflect her interpretation of this one-time censored book. I love the screen printed flora, the use of space and the retro-look of the inhabitants of this Orwellian world.
